Rukun Iman (the Pillars of Faith) are the fundamental beliefs in Islam that every Muslim is required to uphold and believe in. These six beliefs shape the foundation of a Muslim’s faith and practice, guiding their relationship with Allah (God) and the world around them. Here’s a breakdown of the six pillars:

  1. Iman kepada Allah SWT (Faith in Allah)
This is the belief in the oneness of Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Muslims believe that Allah is the only God, who is all-powerful, all-knowing, and merciful. The faith in Allah emphasizes monotheism and the submission to His will.

  2. Iman kepada Malaikat-Malaikat Allah (Faith in the Angels of Allah)
Muslims believe in the existence of angels, created by Allah from light. These angels are tasked with specific duties, such as delivering Allah’s messages to the prophets, recording human deeds, and executing Allah’s commands.

  3. Iman kepada Kitab-Kitab Allah (Faith in the Books of Allah)
Muslims believe in the holy scriptures revealed by Allah to His prophets. The key books include the Qur’an (the final revelation), the Torah (to Prophet Musa), the Psalms (to Prophet Dawud), and the Gospel (to Prophet Isa). These scriptures guide believers in living righteous lives.

  4. Iman kepada Rasul-Rasul Allah (Faith in the Prophets of Allah)
This belief acknowledges that Allah sent numerous prophets throughout history to guide humanity. The final and last prophet is Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who delivered the final revelation, the Qur’an. All prophets are respected and honored in Islam, and their messages are seen as guidance from Allah.

  5. Iman kepada Hari Akhir (Faith in the Day of Judgment)
Muslims believe in the afterlife and the Day of Judgment, where every soul will be held accountable for their deeds. On this day, people will be rewarded with eternal paradise or punished in hell based on their actions during their lives.

  6. Iman kepada Qada’ dan Qadar (Faith in Divine Decree and Predestination)
This is the belief that Allah has decreed everything that happens in the universe, both good and bad. While humans have free will, Allah’s knowledge and power encompass all that occurs, and everything is part of His divine plan.
